NFL Week 17 Mulitmedia Preview

It's New Year's Day and my holiday hiatus is over. I know, you missed me. You're getting all teary eyed at my return. It's OK, don't Speak. Words can only ruin this moment.

Today is Week 17 in the NFL and while there are a myriad of draft and playoff position implications, there are only a couple of games I'm really paying attention to.

Jets at Dolphins- The Jets need to win this game and a lot of help from other teams, a Native American shaman, and Madame Leona down the street from me who reads palms. Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan has done an awful lot of talking the last two years however this year has been an abject disaster. How fast can he get home to that last batch of crow?

The Dolphins have been playing fairly well and I think they'll love the opportunity to stick it in a division rival's derriere. I will pick the Dolphins only because I want to see the postgame presser.

Ravens at Bengals, Steelers at Browns- Ravens/ Steelers is one of the better modern rivalries these days. Nothing is so grating on the nerves as an over-confident Steelers fan. I know a lot of them.

I'm picking the Ravens and Steelers, but saying a few novenas that the Browns find a way to pull of the upset.

Chargers at Raiders- the vultures are circling in San Diego and one looks conspicuously like Marty Schottenheimer. Wierd, huh? Norv Turner is all but fired and the Raiders are desperately trying to wrest the AFC West away from the clutches of Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos. What a way for Norv to go with a slaughter at the hands of the Raiders.

Chiefs at Broncos- I'm a little disappointed that this Twilight-laden society didn't go crazy with the "Team Kyle" or "Team Tebow" angle. But there's always this:
Orton can now play spoiler to the team who did him a favor and released him instead of letting him rot on the bench behind the savior. Kinda takes the wind out of that whole revenge thing, doesn't it?

Anywho, I'd really love for this whole Tebow-thing to be finally neutered by no playoffs, so I'm taking the Chiefs. I mean, hey, they beat the Packers didn't they? Surely the zone-read is no big challenge after that, is it?

Cowboys at Giants- In this battle of beleaguered quarterbacks, the winner takes the NFC Least crown and the subsequent playoff berth. The loser, well, faces a long off-season of questions. Will we see the return of Romo-mania? Or will it turn to cries of "No mo' Romo"? Is Giants QB Eli Manning truly ELIte? Or will his Giants be ELIminated? I can't preview this game any better than this:
I'm picking the Giants only because if they lose this game at home, the National Guard might need to be called in to secure the parking lot.

That's it kids, the final NFL Weekly Preview of the 2011 season. Hope you all had a wonderful New Year!
