NFL Week 6

Hello folkses,

Yours truly went 9-4 last week in his picks, running my yearly record to 31-13. If I was an NBA franchise, we'd be talking about number one seed. What? Too soon?

So here's my run around the NFL Week 6 matchups:

The Carolina Panthers travel to the Atlanta Falcons. Both teams can run and Cam's a nice story and all, but the Falcons defense- while not where we all thought it should be- is still stronger than the Panthers and the Falcons should get back on track in this one.

Colts at Bengals- Manning's still out, right? Bengals.

49ers at Lions- This week's marquee matchup. Last week the Lions hung tough against the Bears and used the big play to stay undefeated. Both teams defend the pass well. The Niners defend the run better. The Lions are giving up 4.8 per carry and that's dangerous against a team with Frank Gore at running back. I am picking the Niners to win this.

Rams at Packers- No analysis needed. Packers.

Bills at Giants- The Giants are missing Brandon Jacobs, Chris Snee, and Justin Tuck. The Bills are ballhawks this year, and Eli loves to feed the beast. Bills win.

Jaguars at Steelers- I picked against the Steelers at home last week because I didn't like anything about them and thought the Titans were on enough momentum to actually pull it off. I was wrong about everything. The Jaguars aren't near the same level of the Titans, which tells you just how bad the situation really is in Jacksonville. Steelers win.

Eagles at Redskins- The Eagles are in desperate need of a spark and the Redskins are either just starting to get rolling or waiting to come crashing down to earth. The Eagles are weak up the middle and the Redskins can run. The defense has underwhelmed and there is no reason to think this week will be any different. Opposing QB's rate 104.3 against them and they give up 5 yards a clip. Redskins win.

Browns at Raiders- The first home game since the passing of Raiders owner Al Davis. No way the Raiders let this one get away.

Texans at Ravens- The Texans almost escaped with a win last week and are now operating with DE Mario Williams. The Ravens defense is more consistent than death and taxes. No Andre Johnson, Ravens win.

Cowboys at Patriots- The world is waiting for Tony Romo to break through his glass ceiling and start performing like everyone expects him to. The world will wait one more week. Patriots win.

Saints at Buccaneers- The Buccaneers were straight up embarrassed by the 49ers last week. 48-3 might make a team start to scramble for answers. I don't think Tampa is there yet, but the Saints coming to town is not exactly what the doctor ordered a week after getting torched by a team with Alex Smith as its quarterback. Saints win.

Dolphins at Jets- The Dolphins always play the Jets well, but Matt Moore is taking snaps and Brandon Marshall is talking about getting ejected. That drama is equaled by Jets WR Santonio Holmes' comments about his own offensive line. It's a home game for the Jets, Mark Sanchez gets right against this defense. Jets win.

Vikings at Bears- The Vikings notched their first win last week against the Cardinals. The Bears lost a game they could have won if they could have avoided giving up the big play. Adrian Peterson seems to have big games against the Bears, who just benched both their safeties. If it was in the dome, I'd go the other way but the Bears rebound this week.
