Girardi Loves AJ, Cardinals Sign Fitzgerald, Pirates Sign Tabata, Tebow = Te-low
What do Steve Howe and A.J. Burnett's ERA since July 1 have in common? They're high. Get it? I was waiting all morning to write that one.
By now you've probably heard and/ or seen the latest episode of "Let's Try To Dig Some Drama Up On The Yankees". In this chapter, Burnett apparently said something over his shoulder to which Girardi responded back. There HAS to be some kind of bubbling volcano of hatred here, right?
Not necessarily, however Girardi's reaction to the reporter who asked him about it does make one wonder if tensions really are high behind the scenes.
Bottom line? The Yankees are still 76-48, on pace to win 99 games, and in first place. Until fists start flying, let it go.
The Arizona Cardinals signed WR Larry Fitzgerald to an 8 year, $120 million extension Saturday.
Fitzgerald currently ranks 15th among active pass catchers in receptions and 14th in yards. He is also ranked 10th in receiving TD's. Now to put those numbers in some kind of perspective, he's only one of two players in his 20's to be in the top 15 for receptions and yards. He's the only twenty-something in the top 15 for receiving TD's.
Fitzgerald's talent is undeniable. Now if only this whole Kevin Kolb-thing can pan out.
The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed 23 year old OF Jose Tabata to a six year extension, ensuring that PNC park will continue to hear fans yell "Sa-wing Tabata batta sa-wing".
How fast has Denver Broncos QB Tim Tebow regressed in his pursuit of the starting quarterback gig in the Mile High city?
As soon as the lockout was over, everyone had Kyle Orton being traded to Miami and the keys to the franchise being handed to the former Heisman Trophy winner. Now? He's behind fellow 1st round bust Brady Quinn on the depth chart.
In all honesty, anyone who knows anything about sports knew that Tebow was going to take time before he could be even a serviceable NFL quarterback. However, with all the rumors and reports coming out about how Denver was reportedly ready to hand over the reigns only to have them backtrack and almost perform a 180 degree turn in the other direction things have most decidedly been reset to where they should have been all along: with Tebow continuing to learn how to be an NFL quarterback.
