Lockout? What Lockout? NFL's Rule Change Idea Incredibly Stupid

Apparently the NFL has nothing else to worry about so it's focusing on changing some rules. Among other things, they want to make it illegal to contact a quarterback who is in the act of throwing.

I'm sorry, what?

First of all, if any energy other than the draft is to be expelled it should be aimed at ending this ridiculous lockout.

And B, this has to be the most preposterous rule since that anti-Calvin Johnson rule. Oh wait, you mean that got upheld and they're not going to change it? You mean all those anti-Bears fans who continue to point out to me that if Johnson's TD catch had counted the Bears would not have made the playoffs can all shut the hell up? SCORE!

But getting back to my point, how in the hell can you even think out loud that this rule is good for the game. Football is a violent game and I agree that anything malicious needs to be outlawed, but not letting players come into contact with a quarterback in the art of throwing? All of a sudden the pump fake has become the second most important quality a quarterback can have, ranking slightly under half a brain and just ahead of arm strength.

The NFL is notorious for reactionary rule changes. Remember when soon to be retired Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer was lost to a knee injury in a playoff game a while back? That following offseason the league outlawed hitting a quarterback below the knee.

Now they want to make it so you can barely touch them at all. Why even have a pass rush? Let's just make it so on passing plays defensive lineman count to 10 mississippi and then see if they can two hand touch quarterback before he can throw it?

Sound ridiculous? You bet your ass it does and so is this proposed rule change. Here's hoping calmer heads prevail and you don't have to put with me and my ridiculous ideas any more.
