Monday Randomness 1-10-11
OMG! Tomorrow's 1-11-11....can you handle it??
So the Ravens and Packers evened my weekend record to 2-2. If there's safety in numbers, I'm pretty f'in secure since Saturday screwed everyone up.
It's no secret I'm a Bears fan, and even though the current system benefits me greatly, I have a significant problem with the Bears drawing the weaker the team than the number one seed simply because they won a division. I'm all for allowing a sub-500 team into the playoffs, but after the Wild Card round, the teams need to be reseeded. What just happened in the NFL was the Atlanta Falcons got punished for winning. If you don't have a problem with that, there's something wrong with you.
There's something about a chippy Lakers-Knicks game that makes me smile. I almost jumped out of my house though when I saw Lakers forward Ron Artest go for Shawne Williams neck. If there's one thing the Lakers don't need right now it's the drama and distraction of players having to stick up for a teammate who would have completely crossed the line.
It was funny after the NBA Finals last June when Artest thanked his therapist in a post-game interview. It would have been abhorrent if Artest would have failed to regain his composure and pull a "Sprewell" on Williams. And after that whole fracas in Detroit years ago, you'd have a hard time arguing against the NBA telling Artest to go play in Turkey.
For God's sake Ron, up the meds.
The Cubs trade for Matt Garza and everyone is wondering if this is the year it all clicks for the Cubs. Garza said he was glad to be a part of the tradition. He's aware that's a tradition of losing, right? I mean, I know the Rays have been pretty good the last couple of years but not every team rights the ship, right Ryne Sandberg? How about you Rick Sutcliffe? Steve Bartman?
The Raiders "fine-printed" cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha out of town which completes a two period that makes us wonder if the NFL has an intervention program for owners who may have started to lose their marbles.
I'd love to be a fly on the wall during a one-on-one debate between Raiders owner Al Davis and Bills owner Ralph Wilson. I have a feeling there would be more incoherent babble in that room than a methodone clinic.
