Hello again....
If the Rangers end up coming back to win this World Series, Colby Lewis should be the MVP. The Rangers entered Saturday's game 3 trailing 2 games to zip and absolutely could not lose that game.
Not only did they not lose, Lewis kept the Giants off the scoreboard until late and the Rangers are now back in the series.
Something can be said for players who perform like they're supposed to. Lord knows we frequently comment about those players who never live up to expectations. It's only fair to recognize those players who not only perform as advertised, but do so with the weight of a franchise on their shoulders.
Lewis' outing was not only enough to win, it was enough to kick the momentum meter back the Rangers way. If they come up with a win in game 4, this series is completely up for grabs.
Unfortunately, based on what we saw in San Francisco, I don't believe this team can win in a National League park. Cliff Lee who was untouchable until game 1 suddenly looked human. Either he cracked under pressure, which I find hard to believe, or having to hit and actually do more than just pitch corrupted his rhythm.
I'm not sure which one he is, but there was a drastic change between Lee in the ALCS and the World Series.
Cam Newton sure looks like the real deal in college football. I'm trying to figure out what his NFL career might look like, if any. The choices are: Michael Vick, Brad Smith/ Antwaan Randle El, or Tommie Frazier. Thoughts?
The NBA season kicked off last week and I was very pleased to see the MIami Heat drop their first game. They'll still win 60-65 because there's nothing in life more meaningless than the NBA regular season.
Colin Cowherd made a great point on the radio the other day: in this Eastern Conference it is quite possible for the Cleveland Cavaliers to land the 8 seed and face the Heat in the first round. Now THAT my friends, would be must see TV.
The Lakers look strong even without Andrew Bynum and the Magic got thumped by 26 the other night. The Celtics looked good on opening night, but lost the next night in Cleveland which is probably how back-to-back games will work out for that aging team this year.
I wouldn't worry Celtics fans, in the playoffs you only have to win 4 out of 7- barely a .500 winning percentage. I think you'll be OK.
