Random Thoughts

Nothing really in particular is irking me today, so I'll just rattle off some quick hitters for today. OK, kids?

Tiger gets divorced and shoots 65. We'll see later today if it's for real, but damn if this doesn't give credence to theory that sooner or later women will make your life harder than it has to be. Even if it originally was all your fault.

The Washington Nationals are anxiously awaiting the results of Stephen Strasburg's MRI. Or as I like to call it- the verdict on whether or not there's hope in 2011. I'm no doctor, but there is something to be said about these 20-something wonderlings who come in throwing straight gas only to blow out an elbow or a shoulder rather quickly. Kerry Wood, anyone?

I know it's still the preseason but damn if Aaron Rodgers didn't look really f'ing good last night. Being a Bears fan, I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. Nothing like a Packer-induced vurp to start the day off right.

Email or tweet me your lists of players with as much expectations that were given as many chances as Matt Leinart but just couldn't perform. Ryan Leaf doesn't count- he was a psychological mess. From everything I've read, Leinart's head isn't the problem. Remember Derek Anderson's line against the pathetic Bills last season? Well allow me to remind you: 2/17, 23 yards, 1 INT, for a rating of 15.1. The Browns had their issues last year, but anyone who puts that line up in the NFL should not be allowed to quarterback unless the starter and the backup get their knees ripped off. If I'm Matt Leinart, I'm drinking right now. Heavily.

And go figure, Butch Davis is the target of an NCAA inquiry. There are few things you can count on in sports and one of them is that if someone is associated with "The U"'s heyday, they're probably dirty.
