T.O. Gettin' What Comes Around

Terrel Owens believes part of the reason why he hasn't signed with a team yet is because teams view him as a troublemaker of sorts.

Well spank my ass and call me Charlie, he finally is on the same page as the rest of the world.

After years of laying waste to his respective quarterbacks and wearing out his welcome at every stop, the once immensely talented wide receiver is facing the reality of going into training camp without a job. No one wants to jump on the T.O. train unless they have to.

Can you blame them?

He's undercut Jeff Garcia, Donovan McNabb, Tony Romo, and whoever was under center for the Buffalo Bills last season. He nixed a trade to the Baltimore Ravens because he didn't think their quarterback (Kyle Boller) was good enough to throw to him. Let's not even bring up the botched/ fake/ covered up suicide attempt when he was toward the end of his time in Philadelphia.

All of these things tarnish the legacy of what could have been one of the all-time greats at the position. If you look at the numbers, it's an absolute tragedy that not only has a player of his caliber played with so many teams, but the respective tenures with each team has been abbreviated, to say the least.

He's the proverbial cancer in he locker room. So much so that the Cincinnatti Bengals reportedly passed on signing him in favor for Antonio Bryant. No team knocking on the door of contention would sanely consider adding him without an injury making it absolutely necessary.

In the end, no one will remember the game winning touchdown catch against the Packers in the playoffs, or how he played in the Super Bowl for the Eagles earlier than he should have because if injury, or any of the countless other memorable on-field moments throughout his career.

Instead, his legacy will be one of ego and his inability to get out of his own way. He's a cautionary tale for all budding superstars in sports- the guy with the Hall Of Fame talent that nobody wants.-----KG
