LIE, CHEAT, AND STEELERS

Well hell, look who finally decided to come out of retirement. Hello friends, this is your Uncle Steve, and I am here to once again pass on to all of you my professional opinion on the world of sports.

Now today I have to talk about the issues facing the "Steel City" and their "proud" NFL franchise, the Pittsburgh Steelers. For those of you who are unaware of the many problems this team is currently facing, let illuminate the situation.

First stop is with the lowly kicker, Jeff Reed. Fans usually don't care about the kicker, and neither do I. Lets just say he has been a bad boy (two incidents involving the authorities in the last thirteen months). I want to focus mainly on the two pillars of the offense, WR Santonio Holmes and QB Ben Roethlisberger.

Santonio Holmes is the MVP of Super Bowl XLIII, and the star wide receiver for the team. Unfortunately he also is an arrogant punk and a hot head. Since 2006, Holmes has been in trouble for marijuana possession in Pittsburgh, domestic violence in Ohio, disorderly conduct in Florida, and just recently he "allegedly" attacked a woman at a club in Orlando because she wouldn't give up her seat to him.

Not to be out done, "Big" Ben Roethlisberger, the starting quarterback for the Steelers, has had issues of his own. Not counting his motorcycle crash in 06', Ben is now facing sexual assault allegations in two states. The last assault involving a twenty year old college student.

Now who is to blame for their indiscretions. The players obviously need to shoulder their fair share of the blame, but I believe the focus also has to fall on their young coach, Mike Tomlin. Tomlin is a talented football mind, but he comes from the "new school" form of coaching. The pitfall most young coaches fall into is thinking they need to be friends to the players. Players are there to play and you are there to not only be their mentor but also their disciplinarian.

So in other words, take your head out of your ass, stop coddling these children, and drop the damn hammer down on them. They need a coach, not a poker buddy.
