Grieve-ing Period 1-3-10

First one of the new year, I feel a little extra pressure to start the year off right.

If the New York Giants came out flat last week, this week was an all out surrender. As I write this, the blood is still drying on the Giants Week 17 loss to the Vikings and once again the team gets a giant "F".

Pride matters to me, and this team has none.

Time to start polishing the platter for Tom Coughlin's head.

Life in Western New York means having to watch the Buffalo Bills even when there's no reason anyone with half a brain cell would sit in front of the television and watch them for 60 minutes.

Case in point: today is a meaningless game for themselves and the Indianapolis Colts, for very different reasons. The Colts have secured their playoff position, the Bills have secured their recliners' positions.

While in Miami, the Steelers came to town to play the Dolphins in a must-win situation for both teams.

This needs to be fixed.  I say in Week 17, hometown market means nothing. Televise the games that mean something and if the local fans are so die hard, they can buy a ticket.

Syracuse's uninspiring if not all that surprising loss to the PIttsburgh Panthers may end up benefiting them in the end if the really do learn from their performance.

Lesson 1: Just because layups are easy, doesn't mean you don't have to finish them.

Got into a little bit of a discussion on facebook the other day about whether or not Cincinnati's performance vs. Florida is proof positive that the Big East does not deserve an automatic bid.

I still believe that Brian Kelly's departure had a lot to do with them underperforming, but the lopsided loss did more to prove that the current bowl system is crap and a playoff is needed.

If I was king of the forest, the BCS bowls would be first round games for the top 8 teams in the nation.  Three week playoff and you have an undisputed National Champion.

I know it'll never happen, but it just seems so easy....
